Eligibility Criteria

A. For GNM Nursing Programme
  1. Education

    Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission:

    • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable.
    • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
    • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre.
    • Registered ANM with pass mark.

    For foreign nationals:

    • The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.
  2. Reservation
    1. For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.
    2. 5% of total marks is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.
    3. Any other reservation as per the State Govt.

    Note: A committee to be formed consisting of medical officer authorized by medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%.

    Note: Reservation shall be applicable within the sanctioned number of the seats by INC and not above it.

  3. Admission of students shall be once in a year.
  4. Students shall be medically fit.
  5. Minimum age for admission will be 17 years (as on 31st December of that year). The upper age limit is 35 years. For ANM/LHV, there is no age bar.
B. For B.Sc Nursing Programme
  1. Age:
    • The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
  2. Education:

    Minimum Educational Qualification:

    1. Candidate with Science who has passed the qualifying 12th Standard examination (10+2) and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and passed in English individually.
    2. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having Science subjects and English only.
    3. English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing).
  3. Colour blind candidates are eligible provided that colour corrective contact lens and spectacles are worn by such candidates.
  4. Candidate shall be medically fit.
  5. Married candidates are also eligible for admission.
  6. Students shall be admitted once in a year.
  7. Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examination.
  8. Submission of student's residential certificate is mandatory.
  9. Reservation Policy:

    Reservation of seats for admission in Nursing Colleges for SC/ST/OBC/EWSs/PH:

    • Admission under the reserved quota shall be subject to reservation policy and eligibility criteria for SC/ST/OBC/EWSs prescribed by the Central Govt./State Govt./Union Territory as applicable to the College concerned.
    • In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC the marks obtained in 3 core subjects shall be 40% instead of 45% for General category candidates.

    Students have to appear the CET conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (www.wbjeeb.nic.in). Admission will be done through Central Counseling. Govt. order is followed strictly regarding admission.

Cancellation Of Admission

The Institute shall have the right to cancel admission and/or studentship of any student during the session if she is found guilty declared by the Principal of any of the following:

  1. Suppression of information
  2. Supply of false information.
  3. General misconduct unbecoming of a student.
  4. Adoption of unfair means at the examination.
  5. General indiscipline
